PLAYSHOP – ARM BALANCES
Cost : £20
Duration : 2 hours
If there is one type of yoga pose which polarizes practitioners opinion its arm balances. You either love them or you hate them or you fear them – or all three! Often this is due to there never being enough time in a 1 or 1.5 hour flow to take it slow, to break the poses down and just well PLAY .
In this 2 hour playshop we shall look at
1. The muscles we need to work and exercises to strengthen and release them
2. The role of the bandhas (energy locks in the body – in particular mulabandha and uddiyana bandha)
3. The role of self confidence and the fear of falling
4. Various arm balances and their modifications such as bakasana (crow), parsva bakanasana (side crow), Bhujapidasana (arm pressure pose) , tittibhasana (firefly), eka hasta bhujasana (one hand over arm balance) adho mukha svanasana (down dog) , chaturanga dandasana (4 limbed staff pose) and vasisthasana (
plank and side plank) – yes they’re arm balances too!
Please note this workshop is not designed for beginners and at least 6 months yoga practice is recommended.
